In 1957, at the age of 16, Jerry started working with horses as a groom at the former Andover Riding Academy. At the time, Andover stabled over one hundred horses. Jerry became passionate about learning to ride. He pursued his passion, and for the next 30 years, was considered by many to be one of the top professional riders and trainers in New England. When Andover got sold in 1964, Jerry decided to strike out on his own and moved to Ipswich, where he started his own stables - the present Ascot Riding Center.
